Intra-oral metals may be sampled very conveniently with the ordinary white
'alpine' stones, which are normally used to finish composites etc.

At high speed for example in an airotor, but without any water
cooling, the
metal is just touched with the instrument. Also somewhat sub-gingival margins
may be reached in this way.

It is important to understand that each sample requires a new alpine
stone, which should never touch nor have ever touched any other
metal than the sample.

By its shaft, the alpine stone with the small remnants of the metal is taped to
a paper with the tooth number and perhaps other identification information on
it.
Clear identification is extra important when more samples (more stones) are
sent in.

The compositions of the samples are established with EDAX within approximately 1
wt%, which prevents the detection of Beryllium (too light atoms) and impurities less than
1wt%.
The costs are €50,- for one sample and €25,- for
each additional sample.
