Welcome to the department clinic, where we offer a variety of clinical care, research, and education. We at Oral Diagnostics perform clinical care and research, such as staff treatments at top-reference level and
offer a variety of
“klinisch keuze onderwijs” (~ in consultation chosen clinical specialization programs) for highest
(5th) grade students. We focus on various targets of research in the field of diagnostics, indications, and treatments of disorders in the oral-facial region. Salivary GlandsVarious disorders of the salivary glands occur frequently, may lead to changed properties or changed amounts of saliva, and may be caused by a myriad of factors, such as side-effects of medication, diet, congenital factors, etc. Anybody may contact Oral Diagnostics for Saliva Consultations. With objective methods we measure the activities of the various glands
and the composition of the saliva under various circumstances. Burning MouthThe Burning Mouth Syndrome describes long-standing painful burning sensations of the oral mucous membranes or the tongue. Burning mouth may be related to salivary disorders. Sometimes allergies to certain dental restorative materials or to certain drugs are found. Tooth ErosionThe consumption of acidic food or beverages may dissolve tooth enamel, causing the increasing exposure of the sensitive dentin and leading to many painfully oversensitive teeth (e.g. necks). Oral Diagnostics offers the expertise and skills required to prevent further progress and for treatment of the affected teeth. Adhesive RestorationsIn modern dentistry restorations may be bonded with adhesive techniques. Many of these new restoratives are pre-eminently suitable for highly esthetic yet minimally invasive restorations. Sometimes fiber technology and adhesive procedures may be combined to fill up missing teeth with minimal sacrifice of tooth material. CAD / CAM RestorationsAt Oral Diagnostics various cad/cam systems and procedures are available for a variety of restorations, but also to test the limitations of the systems. Medical Risk PatientsAn increasing number of people survive serious diseases and continue to live under heavy medication or with severe medical problems. Dental treatment of these patients may involve considerable risks. At Oral Diagnostics these people are treated safely in a multi-disciplinary team. Oral AllergiesOccasionally people may be allergic to the restorative materials in the teeth. The knowledge on this subject is rather limited in the health sector. At OD we use a diagnostic system, which has been specially developed in ACTA to analyze over-sensitivities to dental materials and provide various solutions to these problems. Tooth Color (Bleaching)There are a great variety of tooth colors even within one mouth and even within a single tooth. Tooth discolorations may be caused by injury, or people may not be pleased by the color of their teeth. We have objective equipment to measure tooth color and we use several methods for bleaching. Diagnostics, Indications, and Treatment Planning
An advice is an opinion about a dental situation or about a problem or question as formulated by a patient. Anybody may apply, reference of a dentist is not necessary and you may still apply at the ACTA clinics (Patients Administration Center at 020-5188380) for normal dental treatment.
The purpose of a second opinion is to help the patient and the dentist with decisions concerning dental problems and treatments. Although various options may be considered, we emphasize that a second opinion is not a decision, only the patient or his dentist shall take any decisions. A second opinion is an independent opinion. If you want to apply at the main ACTA clinics for normal dental treatment, a reference of your dentist is required to warrant the independency.
A legal advice is an evaluation of a dentition or a dental treatment within the framework of a (possible) legal procedure, generally requested by lawyers or legal consultants. Please note that costs are based on expenses and time.
